Tivoli Storage Manager V5.4 released January 25th, 2007. New and exciting
features include:
• Collocate active data - Optimized access to active versions for fast restores
• Backup set enhancements - More options for grouping, Table of Contents and Point in
Time generations
• Data shredding on disk-overwrite expired data, random access disk
• NDMP & N series/NetApp Enhancements
Technical Support from IBM for TSM 5.2 will end effective April 30, 2007.
Tivoli Storage Manager 5.3 is the current release of Tivoli Storage Manager with a projected EOS
date of April 2008 (adheres to IBM Software Support Life Cycle). Support will be limited to
migration/upgrade issues only - through April 30, 2007, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.2 clients
will be supported with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager servers in the new release as part of a
migration/upgrade.
Tivoli Storage Manager announces new Value Unit pricing model.
Other Tivoli
brands have already moved to this new pricing model to account for single, dual and quad core
processors. This pricing goes into effect January 27th and will also affect Passport Advantage
renewals.
IBM announces a new Data Protection Agent for MS SharePoint:
• Support for Sharepoint 2003 and 2007 Site-level, Subsite-level and Item-level restoration
• This is expected to be available in Q1 '07
More Group TSM Admin Training Class - February 20th - 22nd.
Our popular TSM Admin training class will be held at our new facility in Middleboro, MA with our
expanded demo center and training room. This class will have hands-on work and includes an
extensive custom training document. Class size is limited to first 12 registered students.
